 WHAT
to EXPECT
Bruising, swelling and moderate discomfort. On a scale from1-10,
it would probably be a 3 to 4. Bruising may go into eyes and
cheeks. Some numbness in forehead. No hair is shaved from
the scalp
ANESTHESIA
- General
Local Mac - no memory of operation
Local Sedation - will be aware to some extent
DURATION
of OPERATION - One hour.
DAY
of SURGERY - You must have someone to drive to and
from the surgical facility. You must have someone stay with
you the first night or stay at an overnight facility.
AFTER
SURGERY - When you leave the operating room you will
go to the recovery room or post-op for 1-4 hours.
 DAY
TWO and THREE - Use ice packs for swelling on forehead.
If you have a bandage around your head, you can remove it
in 24-36 hours after surgery. If you have a drain it will
be removed
at 24-36 hours.
BACK
TO WORK - You can usually return to work in 10-14.
It could be 21 days if bruising is severe.
SWELLING
- You will feel swelling for 2-4 weeks.
EXERCISE
- You may walk 1/4 to 1/2 mile at 10 to 14 days. At 2-3 weeks
you may take longer
walks. Light walks after four weeks. Full activities.

RISKS
BLEEDING
- Bleeding can occur following any surgery. If bleeding occurs
it will usually require going to operating room to correct.
INFECTION
- Uncommon. We use antibiotics pre- and post- operatively.
SCARRING
- Usually minimal but scar can thicken and be painful.
HAIR
LOSS - Usually along scar line if incision follows
the direction of the hair follicles.
NERVE
DAMAGE - Sensation - can be altered with either technoque
but you will have numbness in the scalp with open technique.
Motor Nerves - are sometimes brusied but usually returned
to full function 3-12 weeks
SYMMETRY
- You are not symmetrical now and will not be perfectly symmetrical
after the surgery. Look very closely in the mirror prior to
surgery to identify asymmetry.
EMOTION
- You may have a period of mild depression after surgery.
This is caused by the stress of the surgery and anesthesia.
It will pass as you recover.

WHAT
BROWLIFT WILL DO
- It
will freshen the upper 1/3 of face.
- It
will create a space between the eyelashes and
eyebrows.
- It
will reduce wrinkles in forehead and between eyes.

WHAT BROWLIFT WILL NOT DO
- It will not
remove all lines and wrinkles.
- It will not
correct symmetry of eyebrows.
- It will not
last forever.

IF REVISIONS ARE NEEDED
You are
responsible for anesthesia and facility charges.

HOW LONG WILL RESULTS LAST
This
is a very difficult question to answer. Longevity of the procedure
depends on your skin elasticity, heredity, previous sun exposure
and post-operatively, stress, smoking and elastic fibers in
your skin. If you are a good candidate with good skin qualities
and don't smoke, you can expect a good appearance for 4-10
years. Remember gravity pulls and aging continues from the
moment I finish your operation. I wish I could guarantee the
duration of the results but it is impossible. Do not expect
all lines to be gone. Perfection is impossible but significant
improvement is expected - a fresh, rested look.
